WPD Press Release 7/1/15
The following is a statement released by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Wynne Police Department:
On June 15, 2015, Nakia Gibbs was arrested following fleeing from officers attempting a traffic stop. Officers recovered firearms recently stolen from a residential burglary in Wynne. Gibbs was charged with fleeing, driving on suspended driver's license, carrying a weapon, obstructing governmental operations, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of a... firearm by certain persons for being a convicted felon in possession of firearms.
On Wednesday June 17th, 2015 the Wynne Police Department Criminal Investigations Department found stolen property that had been pawned at a Pawn Shop in Jonesboro, AR. The property had been stolen during a residential burglary that occurred on June 3, 2015. An arrest warrant has been issued for arrest of the suspect on charges of theft by receiving for possessing the stolen property.
On June 22nd Officers recovered two firearms stolen during two separate residential burglaries in Wynne. Officers have not been able to connect the firearms with a suspect.
On Sunday June 28th, 2015, Wynne Police Department Officers arrested two juveniles in connection with the burglary of a home on Holly Lane. The burglary occurred on Saturday June 27th, 2015. Three television and an X-Box gaming system were taken in the burglary. Officer’s searched a location where the items were supposed to be hidden but were unable to locate or recover the stolen items.
The Juveniles were taken into custody and held for 5 hours then released to their guardians. The suspects will appear in Juvenile court on Thursday July 9th for an initial hearing on charges of burglary and theft.
On June 29th, 2015, Officers arrested Michael McCormick and Jessica McCormick who were charged with theft by receiving for having possession of stolen property. The property was stolen during a commercial burglary of the Backstreet Florist in Wynne on Saturday June 27th, 2015.
